Conference Maps and Directions
Conference events will take place across the street from the hotel. Google Maps provides reliable directions for most walks. (For Old Main, it directs you to the street in front of the building.) Note: There are coat racks available at all venues.
Cartwright Hall. The second floor of Cartwright will host all conference programming, exhibits, and breaks. Registration will be at Cartwright Thursday to Saturday; a registration table will be at the hotel Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. The recommended entrance, pictured, is starred on map. Cowles Library. The Thursday evening reception will occur in the Reading Room on the second floor of Cowles. The recommended entrance, pictured, is starred on map. Google maps directions from Home2 Suites to the Cowles Library.
- From this entrance, go through the double doors and then straight back to the stairs. The Reading Room is on the left at the top of the stairs.
Elevator: Once inside the double doors, turn left and follow the ramp up. Turn right. The elevator is on the right. Press 4T. The back doors will open. Go straight through the tier to the Reading Room.
Cowles Library. The entrance pictured here is the closest if you are walking directly from the Law School. Google maps directions from Drake Law School to the Cowles Library. Note: if you want to use the elevator, take the back entrance as if you were coming from the hotel.
From this entrance, go up the short flight of stairs and then the full flight to the second floor. Take the single door at the back of the landing and go through the tier to the Reading Room.
Levitt Hall in Old Main. The luncheons will occur in Levitt Hall on the second floor of Old Main. The recommended entrance, pictured, is starred on the map. The words "Sheslow Auditorium" appear above the doors. Once inside, take the stairs up half a flight and go through the doors into Levitt Hall.
Elevator: Take the ramp down. Go straight. On the wall, you will see an AED sign and a sign pointing you to the elevator. Once you go through the hall, turn left. The elevator is on your left. Go to the second floor. Exit right off the elevator. The door into Levitt is on the right.
Opperman Hall. The Law Library is in Opperman Hall, which is connected to Cartwright. Tours will be offered during the conference.
Parking. We anticipate most attendees will park at the hotel and walk to the conference. If you arrive at the hotel Thursday morning before check-in, you can still get a parking pass at the hotel desk for the hotel lot. Parking lots on campus require permits, and the closest street parking is limited to two hours. If you require a parking permit for Lot 1A, contact John Edwards by October 7 to request one.
Inside Cartwright and Opperman Halls
The exhibits and most programs will be on Cartwright's 2nd floor. From the main Cartwright entrance (starred on the map above), take the center stairs up, or walk through the first floor to the elevator on the west side. Some MALLCO roundtables and the MAALL Executive Board meeting will be in Opperman 151. From the main Cartwright entrance, walk through the first floor and into Opperman, which is a connected building.
Each floor of Cartwright offers two water fountains and men's and women's bathrooms. Non-gendered bathrooms are available in the Law Library (in attached Opperman Hall) on the first and second floors and the lower level.
