    The University of Iowa Law Library is seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join us as the Cataloging & Metadata Librarian. The University of Iowa Law Library is one of the largest academic law libraries in the country with a wonderful, comprehensive physical collection and an extensive electronic collection. Our mission focuses on providing support, access, and preservation of legal resources and information to present and future legal information seekers who include a broad population from the College of Law and University of Iowa to the people of Iowa and researchers around the country and the world.

    Reporting to the Associate Director, the Cataloging & Metadata Librarian is responsible for creating and maintaining the Law Library's bibliographic records and facilitating the discovery of the library's diverse collection of materials. This includes performing original and copy cataloging; creating and maintaining accurate metadata in the library catalog; overseeing authority control processing; establishing and updating system patterns; maintaining the corresponding documentation, workflows, and procedures related to the library's cataloging and metadata operations and initiatives; and, increasingly, collaborating on digital projects that include the use of metadata and implementing accessibility and discoverability standards. Additionally, they supervise, mentor, and develop members of the cataloging team, including two direct reports and student work specialists, by providing assistance and creating an environment that promotes collaboration and a positive team atmosphere.

     

    Salary: $65,000 – Pay Commensurate with Experience (Pay Level: 4A)

    This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
