The University of Tulsa's Mabee Legal Information Center (MLIC) invites qualified applicants to apply for our new Instruction & Research Services Librarian position.
Job Summary:
Leads the Mabee Legal Information Center’s instructional program by developing programming, teaching research methodology as an invited lecturer in classes, and creating research guides for specialized topics; expands and improves reference and research services and programs offered to students, faculty, and other library patrons; assists with collection development and effective use of technology.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- Provides individual and group research instruction using databases, print materials, and other resources.
- Prepares content for classroom guest lectures on legal and non-legal research methods and resources.
- Delivers legal research instruction in classes, as invited, and library-sponsored workshops.
- Creates and updates library research guides for courses and specialized topics.
- Adds impact to the MLIC collection of research resources by selecting resources in assigned topics and teaching users how to use library electronic resources and digital tools.
- Collaborates with other departments to assess student learning needs and outcomes.
- Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability:
- Strong knowledge of legal resources (Westlaw, Lexis, HeinOnline, etc.)
- Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment, drive projects to completion, and act with a sense of urgency.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Sharepoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the institution.
- A collaborative team player, who can coordinate work effectively with employees, team members, and outside vendors.
- High attention to detail, demonstrated practice of establishing effective priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Strong customer service with a can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications:
- J.D. required (5+ years of experience working in research services in a law firm library, county law library, or other type of law library may substitute for a J.D.)
- MLS, preferred (required if no JD)
Additional Information:
Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000
